Is it just the fact he has a more reliable car now or has the competition really fallen off???

I think it's pretty well acknowledged that in F1 a winning combo is 90% car, 10% driver. I think you can get any decent driver and put him in the car Webber is driving and the results would be the same or similar. I also think he's had some luck in the two races he's won in that a lot of the front runners crashed out.

I can see the media in Australia jumping on this and making him an "Aussie Hero"...sure he's a nice guy but once the media has you...goodnight...

Let me add I friggen hate F1.

I agree. There's an army of race engineers, development people etc. that work on the cars and engineer them right. Get a capable driver and although significant, I'd suggest he's just the front-man as lot of the work has already been done.

BTW, I love F1 smile.gif

I've always thought that Webber could make it but just needed a good reliable car.
I agree that the team behind him plays an enormous part but I don't think you can undersell the driver in all this.
It takes a level head and talent to make it to the top of the points.
He has also been fairly consistent in setting the fastest lap.

Great race for Weber at Silverstone on Sunday
loved his radio comment about "not bad for a No. 2 driver!" after red bull gave his front wing to Vettel.
